How is back pain diagnosed?

Here at Chesapeake Wellness Center, you will first visit our chiropractor, Dr. Mark Gutekunst, about questions or concerns that you may have. He will also discuss viable treatment options for your condition. Next, our chiropractor will conduct a complete chiropractic examination, and if needed, X-rays will be done.

What are the treatment options for back pain?

Treatment options for back pain include multiple options. Therefore, we will create a customized treatment plan based on your unique needs as our patient. Some of these treatment options include:

  • Exercise - Proper exercise helps with many issues, including back pain. It gets the blood moving and circulating correctly, which helps increase healing. In addition, moving around the right way might be helpful, depending on what is causing the back pain.
  • Rest - It is not recommended to rest too much, but getting the proper rest can give your back time to heal without putting extra strain on it.
  • Massage - This releases tension, which can help promote blood flow and recovery.
  • Chiropractic Care - Chiropractic care and adjustments can do wonders for back pain and chronic pain issues.

A mix of these options is usually enough to treat back pain successfully. However, we may discuss other options if these treatments don't help after a specific time.

Why do some parts of my back hurt more than others?

Certain parts of your back hurt for different reasons. Your lower back holds most of the weight and strain of everyday life. Your upper back and shoulders have a lot of tension and stress. Some parts of your back might hurt due to muscle or spinal injury. It depends on the issue and why some parts of your back might hurt more than others.
